Our January Meeting was to be a "PROJECT" Night. Prior to the meeting, club members were asked to bring something to work on (Borrowing from a UK Tradition, we were calling it "Un-Boxing Day") Due to some sickness, we were small in number at the meeting, but everyone brought something interesting and it was a fun night.
Below, my project (one that has been stalled out forever). Years ago I bought a Cpt. Chandler figure from the TV show - The LAST SHIP. I was disappointed in the figure because the uniform seemed incredibly light compared to the color of Navy digital camouflage that I was finding online. Then I found some Bandit Joe outfits on Zhukov's Attic and they looked much better, so I bought several of them. Well, long story short, I finally got around to un-boxing the Captain and he is now wearing a Bandit Joe uniform and looking very smart.

The uniform sets came with some cloth insignia that you can cut out and add to the uniforms, but there were some notable items missing if I wanted all my sailors to be in the crew of the Nathan James. So I created my own insignia and printed it on fabric paper that I got at Hobby Lobby. I forgot to bring a marker to touch up the edges of the captain's insignia, so I will have to do that during my next session.
Interesting side note to un-boxing day - Phil knows someone who is a master of 3D printing and he got them to create replacement wrist posts for Dragon figures. I purchased a hundred of them. I must of broken about 12 wrists during my move and now I can replace them and future casualties as well. This was the best part of un-boxing day for me.
Mark, didn't bring something to work on, but he did bring a vignette that he just finished. I believe this figure is of a character from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but he makes an excellent "Rocker". The hole in the jeans, the chains and safety pins really say "punk". Love the guitar and amplifier as well. The amp looks like an old Fender I use to have.
Cindy also brought a project that she had recently finished, these tables and wooden bookshelf. The tables actually have metal tops that she cut to size and then managed to fold over the edges. The pictures don't begin to do them justice, it is beautiful work.
Scott borrowed one of Cindy's tables so that his Special Forces had a place to work on their armaments. He created the environment of his diorama out of foam and other materials. A very cool setup. The figures look great and that wall looks amazing.

I don't know where he got that scale SHARPIE on the table, but that is the coolest thing I've ever seen!
Fred and Phil both brought figures to begin working on participants in an Afrika Korps diorama shoot that we want to do later this year. Barely visible in the photo below, George was unboxing an ETO themed German.
A couple of the figures that Phil was putting together.
I'm not sure how much of that stack Fred got through, he got pretty absorbed in that book he's holding and was still reading it when I left for the night (lol). In all fairness, it was a really cool book. I would have probably gotten caught up in it too if I hadn't been working on Navy guys.
