November 2015 Meeting Highlights

I didn't get very many pictures at the November meeting; don't remember why.  Seems like most of what I have here is my own WIP shots. Anyway, here is what I did get. (Ed)
Picture
Four nicely done modern Russian soldiers by J. Kidd
Picture
This 8 wheeled armored car is an old piece done by Gary1930, now in the collection of Hammer Six.
Picture
The half track truck (I have no idea what these things are called) is another Gary1930 bash from way back, also in the collection of Hammer Six. It is a beautiful piece. Gary was a master builder and loved the hobby as much as anyone I have ever known. He passed away last year and those of us who knew him well miss him very much.
Picture
Point Man WIP - WHITE SCOUT CAR. This vehicle has been extensively reworked, including lowering the gun rail, opening the grill, articulating the front wheels and functional tie downs.
Picture
Another Point Man WIP - DODGE WEAPONS CARRIER - Point Man chopped apart a Dodge Command Car from 21st Century and created some templates for the bed of the vehicle. These front wheels on this vehicle are articulated as well and there is even a working glove compartment.
Picture
Sergeant and LT. Confiring before proceeding down that imaginary road in Point Man's mind.
Picture
One of Point Man's two reworked Stuarts (WIP) and Dragon Jeep being photo bombed by Hammer Six.
Picture
Back of the  WIP Stuart, showing reworked tool stowage with functional tie downs and leather and metal buckle ties.

PARTY at
PANZERALLAN'S

In October a group of us attended a party at Panzerallan's place. For many of us, it would be the last time that many of us we see friend and club member Mike Walker, who was killed recently in a car crash. We all miss Mike very much. He was a great human being and a huge part of this hobby. We miss you Mike - Editor
Picture
Picture
There were a few SSCC members at the party and quite a few folks from around the country that I didn't know, but there are no strangers in the hobby and we all had a great time. I am not going to try to caption all of these photos. These are just a sampling of Panzerallan's collection - which is so huge it left me speechless (not an easy thing to do). I guess I would just say, enjoy the eye candy.

SEPTEMBER 2015 MEETING (I think) Highlights...

Picture
This WWII Pilot was shown by Dr. Zorkon. The good Doctor has a nice collection of 1/6th Pilots and 1/18th Aircraft, which he often displays together at various shows.
Picture
Out of the box Kettenkrad from DID and a bashed Waffen SS trooper by Point Man
Picture
Two members of a five man team of Normandy Paratroopers expertly bashed by Panzercommander. Here we have the team radio man and officer.
Picture
The rest of the team, which appear to be a light machine gun team, sporting a Browning .30 caliber machine gun and tripod. These figures are all beautifully done by Panzercommander.
Picture
One of Dr. Zorkon's Aircraft/Pilot collection combos - an F-18 Hornet and modern Pilot. Pretty sharp!
Picture
Here Trooper George displays a Classis Collection Hasbro Jeep with some of his WWII figures that he has bashed. Sharp looking setup!

Highlights from August 2015 Meeting:

Picture
"Panzercommander" put together this wonderful ARMY WAR CORRESPONDENT in a Dragon Jeep. What struck me about this setup was the relaxed pose of the figure. A really cool "Behind the lines" treatment.
Picture
There is a lot of detail here, from the objects of the reporters trade, to a fairly hefty supply of wine... but, then maybe that is trading material
Picture
Panzercommander hasn't forgotten anything. This Jeep is just chock full of great detail.
Picture
I am ashamed to say that I do not remember who brought the figures in this shot and the picture below; its just been too long. Nice modern figure on  left  and a group of bashed Dragon Marines on the right.
Picture
One again, don't know who put together these Italians (left) and Brit (Right). They look great though guys! (Ed)
Picture
These two modern figures would be the work on J. Kidd. A Russian on the left and I think that is a British trooper on the right, but I might be wrong. Someone help me out here.
Picture
These two figures have to be the work of Dr. Zorkon. We've got the DUKE on the right and I am not sure about the female figure on the left, though it looks like Princes Leia turned Assassin.

Here are the few pictures I snapped of our summer get together at "Point Man's" Place - our 2nd Annual BBQ.
Picture
As always, the SSCC involves as certain amount of chowing down. Here are several club members enjoying a lively session of chowing down and conversation... mostly chowing down though.
Picture
Panzercommander photo bombing a business transaction between Drone (left) and Gray Ghost (right).
Picture
(left to right) King Tiger, Point Man and Rob R. hanging in Point Man's War Room.
Picture
Trade Room
Picture
Point Man pointing out what not to do to a Dragon Sherman.

A good time was had by all, looking forward to the 3rd Annual BBQ in July.

JULY MEETING PHOTOGRAPHS

Here are some of the highlights from the JULY 2015 meeting.
Picture
A trio of beautifully done modern Russian soldiers by "J.Kidd"
Picture
A group of SciFi/Game figures from "Trooper Tim"
Picture
A selection of nicely bashed WWII ETO U.S. Figures from "MadDogCorporal"
Picture
21st Century Jeep with a trio of bashed U.S. figures from "Halftrack"
Picture
Super detailed Vietnam bash by "Amaral" - U.S. Special Forces
Picture
Creepy, but Cool - "MadDoctorZorkon" has created a classic Twilight Zone scene with Sideshow figures... or was it the Outer Limits... whatever, it was creepy.
Picture
"Point Man" displayed a stock Dragon Jeep with a well outfitted crew, bashed from Dragon and other manufacturers' parts.
Picture
"Panzercommander" presented an armored Dragon Jeep with a highly detailed bashed crew.

AND AS ALWAYS...my apologies to anyone who's stuff I didn't get a picture of. (Editor)

As stated on our home page, this blog is going to replace the SSCC Dispatches Online Newsletter. Speaking from personal experience as the only contributor and editor of the piece, I can attest to it being an exhausting bimonthly waste of time. Its central purpose was to be a unique format for presenting our monthly meeting photographs, but it simply took more time than I had for the exercise. Whether anyone was actually looking at it or not wasn't clear to me as I never received any comments (favorable or bad) about the newsletter, but based on the fact that I haven't done one since June of 2015 and the only person that said anything was our club president... well... I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

All that said, the stated purpose of the Newsletter has always been to highlight club meetings and activities as mentioned above and I for one, would like to continue that practice, though in a somewhat  easier to maintain format - this BLOG. And as the title of this first post suggests, there is a little catching up to do, so sit back and prepare to be bombarded with a bunch of posts. - (ED)
