FEBRUARY MEETING ...

2/8/2019

Well, the February meeting was a good one. We had a good group and a fair amount of eye candy to drool all over.

We'll start with Hammer Six's Germans. He did a little diorama featuring some Waffen SS, part of his Motorcycle unit he has been working on. In this scene they have taken cover behind their bikes. These bikes are just two of the fairly good sized unit that Dick will be featuring at our SSCC Entertainment Junction show March 23 and 24. The bikes were all custom painted by Cory Lord and look fantastic. Dick has spent the last couple of months putting together crews for the motorcycles. I can't wait to see the entire unit.

Dick also had these two Hitler figures to show off. With an extra sculpt and a couple of extra pieces, he was able to get two versions from one set. Pretty nicely done.
George K. has been working on Vietnam War U.S. Marines for a diorama that he is planning to do for the Entertainment Junction show. These are three work in progress pieces that he has been working on most recently.

I really like to two African American sculpts. I don't know where he got them, but the sculpts are incredibly life-like. The one one the right reminds me of the character of Johnson from the TV show; Tour of Duty. Very nice work.

Here is Point Man's weathered and detailed M2A1 Half-track. It has only been sitting around since August, waiting to be finished and he finally decided that it was time to complete it (no more excuses).

Here the LT get some information from a couple of local French wood cutters.

The scratch built fighting compartment is considerably bigger than the Hasbro version and scales nicely to the 21st Scout Car (which is what was used for the front end of the vehicle). However, it is still a tight fit. Point man had to use some extremely flexible/thin body figures to get the troops seated in the back. It's a squeeze, but it works.

This month, Cindy brought four figures that she had been working on. The first was a German Heer Tanker; very nicely done. Second was a Civil War Joe, wearing a uniform and gear from Battlegear Toys. Nice stuff to be sure.

Below, is her Biker Joe. He looks like a real road warrior to me. That is some heavy duty leather.

Above, a Waffen SS Joe in fall time camouflage. I like the map case that he is holding, that is a nice piece. Great job all around Cindy!
Gray Ghost brought some 4th Armored figures that he has been working on. Vehicle crewmen for our 37th Tank Battalion group. They all look real sharp. I really like those rubber boots that the officer is wearing (on right). They look real sharp. These are all great looking troops for the unit. Nice job Phil!

Below, Dr. Zorkon does it again. In particular the head on the pike totally creeped me out.

This month Mark has brought a Viking warrior that he put together. This guy is really sharp and has all kinds of nice detail. I guess it would be Vikings in Scotland. I don't remember all my Norse/Scotland history, but I think the inclusion of the tartan material is an interesting detail. I also really like the inclusion of the long and short swords. This is a really sharp looking figure. But I must admit, I don't care much for the severed head. I don't care where you are from, that is going to hurt.

And to conclude, Panzercommander had his traveling WWII Store there for us WWII guys to drool over. So many plastic bags, so little time. Thanks for the rifles Fred.

And that is it for this month. We will have a meeting at the beginning of March as usual and the show at Entertainment Junction will be March 23 and 24. Hope to see you there.
