This post was originally done on 4/29, but was done on a standard page rather than a Blog page. It is reprinted here as part of a new Meeting Night Blog - PM
We lead off with figures and Jeep by Panzercommander. He put these late war guys together for an outdoor shoot he did after a torrential rainstorm that we had here in Ohio. The black and white shot below is from that shoot. It really does look like these troops are on the banks of a raging river. Glad they weren't swept away because they are great figures, done with the usual attention to detail that
Panzercommander gives to all of his projects. They looked great in the meeting hall too. I like all the extra gear that he has placed on his Jeep and my favorite figure has to be that radioman sitting in the back of the vehicle. Very nice job Panzercommander.
Next we have a trio of tankers by Gray Ghost. You probably recognize these guys as 3 of the 5 crewmen from FURY. Gray Ghost has done a nice job of taking available sculpts and creating two of Brad Pitt's crew. Though I was wondering how the guy on the left would look with a large black scull on the front of his jacket (that's a Punisher reference for you that are not comic book geeks).
George K. had two great looking bashed figures that he displayed. The first was a rather familiar looking terrorist figure. The kind of fellow you would love to spray with an automatic weapon. Oh wait... already taken care of. Nicely done bad guy George.
The second figure was this bashed female Mercenary/PMC. George used a variety of items to create her. I really like the face compared to a lot of the female sculpts. She just looks like a real person and not a fashionista.
My (Point Man) new project, a Hasbro Humvee. After seeing BLACK JACK's at the FIGURECON, I knew I had to find one. I did (ouch $$). I have yet to do anything to it, but I have been collecting modern gear and lots of reference photos so that I can start customizing it.
This is my crew, a WIP to be sure. I've already made a number of changes since taking these picture and will probably change them some more. This was not a project that I ever intended to do, but now that I am started on it, I am pretty jazzed about where it is going.
These two Humvees belong to BLACK JACK. The tan one is the one that inspired me to start my project. He has already done a number of modifications to it and has more planned. I want to do a radio rack like he has done in mine as well. I just like the way it fills the space with all kinds of detail.
Next we have some comic/SciFi displays from club member GREGORY. These items are roughly 1/12th scale. The Star Wars Tie fighter is really cool. Not only is it pretty well detailed on the outside, there is also a very interesting interior for those 6" figures. Pretty slick; can you imagine how big this thing would be in 1:6th. Next GREGORY displayed a couple of 1/12th scale Batmobiles. The one on the left is from the TV cartoon series and the one on the right is from the 1960's live action TV show with Adam West and Burt Ward. Why, oh why did Hot Toys never release their 1/6th version?
And as usual, there were all kinds of goodies for swapping and buying. This is just the stuff that Panzercommander brought. It was a great meeting and everyone is looking forward to the next one, which is just days away on May 2nd. Hope you can join us. Meeting location information is available on this website.
