This last Wednesday evening, 3/1, was our monthly SSCC meeting. We had a good group and some great displays. It was a really good meeting and I think everyone had a really good time. We were all surprised and very pleased that Mark K. was able to join us. Last month he was lying in a hospital bed, having had heart surgery. It was great to have him back!
We'll start off with Fred's German Afrika Korps soldier, fresh off the boat with newly arrived German troops in North Africa. This guy is detailed out to the max with absolutely perfect uniform and gear. Beautiful job!

Fred also brought a project to work on during the meeting. He is busy kitting out British troops for the North African campaign. Can't wait to see these figures when they are all done.
I brought my 11th Cav figures that I did a while back... or as I like to call them "Riders without a Mount". My M-113 has been sitting in the workroom since moving and I discovered the other day that about have the mounts for the road wheels are busted. I am not sure what happened, but I have got a tremendous repair job before these boys can get on the road. Anyway, the uniforms and gear are a combination of manufacturers... just what I had on hand. The tanker helmets started life as GI Joe pilot helmets.
George was with a group of SSCC Members that went down to this year's SHOW OF SHOWS and he brought back these two full sized helmets from the show.
George also brought these British Paratroopers and their Jeep, which is a work in progress. This going to look pretty cool when it's all done (it's already looking pretty sharp).
Mark brought this "Rocketeer" figure. He made a special stand that let the figure "fly" over the ground and added some rocket pack flames that I believe he said came from a Bobba Fett figure. Very cool. Really good to have you back this month Mark!
Scott had finished up his wall did that he showed last month, so this month he put together a scene with some PMCs getting a briefing. He has got an interesting collection of figures in varied outfits and gear, all of which adds a lot of interest to the scene. Very nicely done!
This particular view (below), I removed the chair in the background to show how effective the diorama looks with a plain surface behind that half wall. Beautiful work Scott!
Cindy continues to work on her mad scientist laboratory. She brought a bunch of detail pieces that she has been collecting and modifying. She also has done some more work on the table with the elevating table top. On the left side she also displayed some power tools that she found online. Notice that our laboratory experiment is wearing a headband that is going to deliver current (ouch!).
DICK brought some recent gladiator purchases, all of which are intended to represent real people in history. I believe he said that these four figures are all limited run issues as well. They look pretty amazing.
He also brought these two figures that represent members of the Finnish Army during WWII. I am not sure, but I think he said that the uniforms were done by Alert Line.
Finally Phil brought this work in progress Hasbro Jeep. He is creating another SAS Desert War Jeep to go with the ones he has already built. This one was missing some parts including seats and gear shifts. I believe he said that the seats that he used to replace the missing ones came from a discarded Hasbro halftrack. Can't wait to see what it looks like when it is finished.
And that's all for this update. Hope you enjoyed!
